The new enlarged Nordic-Baltic Mobility Programme for Culture opens a joint forum for artists and culture practitioners in the region. The former Nordic mobility programme is now opened up for participants from Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania, on an equal footing with the Nordic countries and the autonomous territories. The programme will be run and financed jointly by the Nordic and Baltic countries. The enlarged programme will be launched on the first week of February 2009.

”This starts a new era for the professionals in the Nordic-Baltic culture cooperation. The programme gives artists and culture practitioners a forum for working together and for learning from each other. It certainly strengthens culture in our region, and underlines the importance of cooperation in the times of globalisation”, says Bergljót Jónsdóttir, Director of the Nordic Culture Point.

Nordic-Baltic Mobility Programme for Culture is open for professional artists and culture practitioners from all fields of art and culture. The programme supports long- and short-term network building, artists’ residencies and mobility for professional art and culture practitioners in all artistic fields.

Some €1,5 million (DKK 11 million) have been allocated to the programme for 2009. It runs from 2009 until 2011 and is administered by the Nordic Culture Point, located in Finland. Nordic Culture Point cooperates with the Nordic Council of Ministers’ offices in the Baltic countries in providing information and advice in local languages.

Media welcome to attend the launch event, which take place at Riga Art Space, 3 Kungu street, Riga, at 5 Februay from 14.00 until 17.00 p.m. Please note that the working language of the presentation will be English.
